Umarex Glock 17 Gen3 vs Gen4

Umarex Glock 17 Gen3 vs Gen4

By: Hunter TomComments: 0

The Glock 17 is an Austrian made pistol used by law enforcement and military all over the world. In early 2018, Umarex received the official Glock licensing to produce replica Glocks in 4.5mm bb and 6mm airsoft.  Not long after, Umarex released the Glock 19 non-blowback followed by the Glock 17 Gen 3. Luckily, Travis from Airgun Source Canada sent me one over for review.

At first the Glock 17 gen 3 bb blowback pistol feels good to hold in the hands. It has realistic weight and feel. The pistol functions very well and has decent accuracy for a bb pistol. I enjoyed shooting this gun over the warm summer months of 2019.

In December, Travis sent me the Glock 17 gen 4. I had lots of fun with this bb gun. I found that the finish on the slide of the Gen 4 looked very nice and the material on the handle feels really good. The gun has a nice strong slide and a very good blowback. I had a few malfunctions at first with it do to cold weather (which is normal for C02 airguns) but no problems after that.

So, without further ado, here are the side by side differences between the Glock 17 Gen 3 and the Glock 17 Gen 4 BB pistol.

Glock 17 Gen 3:                                                                                              Glock 17 Gen 4:

Pro’s:                                                                                                   Pro’s:

-Slightly higher FPS                                                                             -Stronger Blowback

-Slightly higher shot count                                                                  -Stronger Slide Spring

-Magazine fits and feels better into gun                        -Comes with backstraps for larger hands

Conclusion:

The Glock 17 Gen 3’s slide is a little more clunky then the Gen 4’s. The price of the Gen 3 is also lower than the Gen 4 which makes sense. If you have the extra money go for the Gen 4, you will not be disappointed. You can find both my reviews on these guns on YouTube. Happy shooting!
