For years the Legends series by Umarex has brought historic firearms to life as airgun replicas for shooting enthusiasts.
Now Umarex has created their very own German MP40 submachine gun replica. This .177 caliber BB rifle promises hours of fun with a 52 round magazine and full auto capability! Powered by two 12 gram CO2 cartridges, simply select full or semi-automatic firing, and mow down tin cans like never before.
The "real steel" MP40 was first developed in 1940 for German paratroopers and later became the standard submachine gun for the Wehrmacht infantry. The Legends MP40 is a faithful replica that will transport you back in time the minute you pick it up. The realism is highlighted by the full metal body and folding shoulder stock. The hooded front sight and adjustable rear sight stay true to the original design and keep your eyes on the prize. For fans of WWII military arms, this legendary gun can finally be yours!
This was a total impulse buy but It is awesome whether you want to use it for target practice or just as a decoration. I'll skip all the good things and just say the only thing that sucks is the bbs have to be staggered in the clip to feed properly and it's just really annoying trying to get them lined up right. I also have to put a small piece of fabric/cushion between the two CO2 tanks to make sure the o ring screws in deep enough to puncture both cartridges ( the first time round only one was punctured and I wondered why it died so fast ) . Dont buy without a speed loader!! Other than that the thing is a beauty . I also realized Canada post doesn't actually deliver to your house they just sneak up your step and leave a notice and make you go get it which was b.s because I payed for xpresspost. Then I went to get it at the office and buddy didnt bring it in till the next day . So basically Canada post is sh*t. But AGS shipped it on time and quickly so good good . All around beauty but the clip sucks to load
This thing is amazingly realistic. Wish they had these when I was a kid....course my parents would never spend $300! Very accurate! My cousin had one and I had to get one. Only option in Canada for a full auto gun. I have problems with the mags (previous writer, they are not clips) not feeding the BBs properly. I found I had to push the follower up with finger to keep it feeding. These were Crosman copperhead BBs though and aren’t that well made. I have yet to try some Umarex and HORNADY BBs I ordered so hopefully they are more round and smooth. Nice job on this replica Umarex!
Great looking gun and fun to shoot when i can get the bb from stopping jamming up. I have gone through 10 co2 and cant get more then 2 or 3 shot before it jams up.
having waited and purchased the "weathered" version it is quite fun, and actually having fired a real mp40 (amoung many other smgs) it quit true to weight. Read other reviews with the common complaint of how heavy the mag is, are comments made by people who have never held a loaded 30 round staggered box magazine (32 for the mp40) before. It shoots hard and quit accurate but seems to pull to the right and low ( three different shooters) but once a few rounds go down range you just adjust. Had initial loading issues (can't call them miss fires) and that was due to my selection of BBs, first purchased the copperheads and they would sometimes fail to feed into the chamber, switched over to Daisy precision max and that seemed to solve the loading issue (also went from two mags per co2 load to almost three)
Actually I'd give it 4 stars because of envy as my MP40 came without leather strap or "weathered" finish; That shall be a lesson in patience as I got mine as soon as it was available around me neck of the woods.
Anyway. it is indeed a nice replica. it has it's flaws in terms of being true to the real gun however who needs to strip it down right? yes, i found it somewhat awkward trying "un-button" it as it would be done with the real MP-40 and that did not work. Not a problem.
As for shooting it I can only say I always have a blast. Shooting by targeting (sights); for a fully automatic it keeps the grouping wonderfully close and there are no targets or cans of pop not shredded to their demise. If just for fun and not trying to hit that only a one quarter (25 cents diameter size) round target with all the 60 bb's; just put some pop cans on the table and go left to right or viceversa (yup, something as seen in movies) it will be fun. Wear safety glasses as bb's tend to come back at you.
There are couple of things I noticed. With the "clip" designed to accommodate 2 CO2 cartridges I am wondering how long the seals are going to last. and last but not least - I could not find any specs about the grease used on the nut or the o-rings that make this gun be fun... 'cause once the seals are going down there is nothing but pain and no warranty no more.
